Aleo Foundation Governance Platform
The Aleo Network is excited to announce the launch of the Aleo Foundation Governance Platform, a new space dedicated to community-driven decision-making. This platform reflects Aleo’s commitment to decentralization, allowing community members to elevate their ideas, vote on Aleo Request for Comments (ARCs), and contribute to the continuous improvement of the network.
What is the Aleo Governance Platform?
The Aleo Governance Platform is designed to facilitate proposals and decisions regarding the Aleo blockchain and its community. Through this system, users can submit ARCs, which serve as protocol-level, network-level, and application-level standards within the Aleo ecosystem. This platform ensures that the community’s voice is heard and plays a crucial role in shaping the future of Aleo.
Introducing Aleo Governors
To streamline the governance process, Aleo has introduced a new role within the Ambassador Program: the Governor. Governors are responsible for reviewing proposals to ensure compliance with Aleo’s Community Rules and Guidelines, actively supporting proposals, and moderating all channels under the Governance category. This role is crucial in maintaining a structured and efficient governance process.
How to Get Involved
Community members are encouraged to join Aleo’s Discord and participate in governance discussions. The Governance category includes two main channels: “Loose Thoughts” and “Proposals.”
Loose Thoughts: This channel is for initial ideas that may eventually become ARCs but are not fully developed. Any Aleo Ambassador (Maestros, Voyagers, Apprentices, and DevRel) can create a loose thought on Discord. Governors manage these ideas, deciding whether to promote them to official ARCs or close the discussion.
Creating a Loose Thought:
- Go to 💭┃loose-thoughts on Discord.
- Create a thread.
- Name the thread.
- Submit your idea.
Proposals: ARCs follow a more rigorous quality check than loose thoughts. Roles authorized to propose ARCs directly include the Aleo Team, elected Governors, and Aleo Grantees. ARCs are used to propose new features and functionalities according to predefined guidelines.
Creating an ARC Proposal:
- Go to Aleo Governance Platform.
- Connect your Discord and Wallet.
- Click on “+ New Proposal.”
- Describe the proposal following the given instructions.
- Choose to “Submit” or “Save Draft” for later submission.
The author of the proposal sets the voting period and options, which can be customized based on each proposal’s characteristics. Once submitted, a discussion with the same ARC number and name will automatically be created on Discord in the Proposals channel.
Aleo is excited to expand the network’s governance, moving towards a more decentralized process for network improvements. This effort relies on active community participation. Join the Aleo Discord today and become a part of shaping the future of the Aleo Network.
