In a significant stride towards community-driven innovation, the Aleo Network proudly announces the implementation of two pivotal protocol changes, ARC0037 and ARC0038. These changes, championed by the StorSwift team, exemplify the power of collaborative efforts within the open-source ecosystem.

StorSwift: Pioneers of Change

StorSwift, an esteemed Aleo grantee and a longstanding contributor to the ecosystem, has been instrumental in driving forward these advancements. Beyond their foundational contributions, including the Aleo123 Explorer, Soter Wallet, Data123, and Proof Market, StorSwift’s vision has now manifested in the form of ARC0037 and ARC0038.

The Genesis of ARC0037 and ARC0038

In November 2023, StorSwift proposed two Aleo Requests for Comments (ARCs): ARC0037 and ARC0038. ARC0037 advocated for the separation of Owner and Worker addresses for validators, ensuring the security of staked funds. On the other hand, ARC0038 proposed a mechanism for validators to receive commissions on rewards delegated to stakers, thereby incentivizing support for delegated staking while maintaining fair rewards for delegators.

Following extensive discussions involving StorSwift, Aleo Systems, and community developers, ARC0037 evolved to incorporate a Withdrawal Address for stakers, enhancing security for their funds, even in the event of compromised hot keys. Meanwhile, ARC0038, while undergoing implementation by Demox Labs with modifications, remains heavily influenced by StorSwift’s original proposal. Notably, Demox Labs’ implementation enforces commissions via a standard program rather than at the protocol level.

Empowering the Aleo Network’s Future

These groundbreaking ARCs mark the first community-driven changes to the Aleo Network, representing significant enhancements to the validator experience. The Aleo Foundation extends its gratitude to the StorSwift team for spearheading these initiatives, which signify the initial strides towards the open-sourcing of the Aleo Network.

A Vision for Collaborative Progress

Leng Bo, CTO at StorSwift, emphasizes the alignment of Aleo’s values with their commitment to decentralization, privacy, and community-driven governance. Beyond technological advancements, it is the collective endeavor that is shaping a more inclusive and secure digital frontier.

Join the Movement

The Aleo Network invites innovators with ideas for projects to apply for grants and become part of this vibrant community. Additionally, individuals are encouraged to explore existing ARCs and contribute their suggestions for further protocol improvements, thus actively shaping the future of the Aleo Network.
